Not waterproof! Ruined my phone. Great concept but did not do as advertised

Great concept and great pack except for the main reason for getting it which it is definitely not waterproof. My phone was unfortunately ruined due to the pack leaking. I know the first response was that I didn't use the backpack correctly but I certainly did. And to my dismay the inside was not just damp but wet. Unfortunate as it's such a great concept and backpack outside of the fact that it did not protect what was inside

Even better than the previous version

Many years ago I bought the Freerain model at that time, and I loved it. Took it on hikes, to Europe, and the beach. This summer, its connection where the shoulder strap meets the bag started tearing out. I considered and ordered one other high quality bag from another company, but it didn't seem as hardy as the Matador bag. So I ordered the Freerain22, and I was not disappointed. It feels even stronger then the old bag. I love the zipper at the top of the bag (which the previous one did not have) and I loved using it on my most recent trip.

  • How waterproof is the Freerain22?
    Bags with the Freerain name are built from waterproof materials with sealed seams and rolltop closures. Though not intended for intentional submersion, these bags are 100% weatherproof and will keep water out in the most extreme weather conditions when the rolltop is rolled at least 3 times.

    Is the Freerain22 hydration compatible?
    No. For hydration compatibility, we suggest the Beast18 or Beast28.

    How do I pack up and stow the Freerain22?
    We suggest folding the pack in thirds vertically and rolling up tightly from the bottom. Unzip the top closure so that air can escape as it is rolled up. For detailed instructions, the demo video above shows the full pack up.

    Does this pack have a hip belt?
    Yes, there is a removeable webbing hip belt.

    How tall of a person will this backpack fit?
    The Freerain22 has a lot of adjustability to accomodate most adults. The tallest person to have tested the Freerain22 is 6'3" but specific fit will depend greatly on the wearer's preference and torso length. The hip belt will accomodate up to 50" circumference.

    Does this bag have a warranty?
    Yes, this product is warrantied for 3 years. Bags in and out of warranty are eligible for repairs.
