Travel changes people

It sharpens perspective. Builds confidence. Creates stories worth telling.

We’re looking for one traveler to spend the next year doing exactly that — traveling the world and creating content that inspires others to go.

The $100K Opportunity

We’re selecting one traveler to lead For The Travelers — a long-form YouTube series.

Be our On-camera host + storyteller
  • Travel throughout the year capturing real travel experiences
  • Create two YouTube episodes per month for Matador’s channel
  • Support each episode with short-form video, photography, and written storytelling
  • Work closely with Matador’s creative team
  • Get paid $100,000 to do it

If this sounds like a dream job — good.
That’s the point.

What We’re Looking For

This role is not for everyone.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Can consistently meet deadlines
  • Understands story, not just visuals
  • Can work independently and stay organized on the road
  • Has a clear creative point of view
  • Aligns naturally with Matador’s For The Travelers ethos
  • Can take direction from Matador's creative team

You don’t need a massive following. You do need taste, discipline, and something to say.

Runner-Ups

We’ll also select several runner-up's to receive paid, project-based assignments with Matador throughout the year.

If you don’t lead the series but your work stands out, this won’t be the end of the conversation.

What Your Video Should Show

Your video should give us a clear sense of:

1. Who you are
Not your resume — your perspective.
How you move through the world.
What you notice when you travel.

2. Why travel matters to you
Not where you’ve been — why you go.
What travel has changed for you.
What keeps pulling you back out the door.

3. How you tell stories
Use your video to demonstrate:

  • Your editing style
  • Your creativity
  • Your ability to hold attention
  • Your sense of narrative
  • Your ability to speak to camera

We want to see that you can build a moment, not just capture one.

Final Note

We’re not asking you to sell us.

We’re asking you to show us how you see the world.

If travel has shaped who you are — and you know how to turn that into a story — we want to see it.

  • When are applications open?
Submissions will be accepted through March 31st. The selected creator will be announced shortly after submissions close.

    When does the role begin?
The role is expected to begin in early April and will run through a full calendar year. This timeline allows the selected creator to focus fully on the assignment while maximizing momentum throughout a full year.

Can more than one person be selected as “The Traveler”?
    Yes — in certain cases.

If you create and travel as a duo or team (for example, a couple or creative partners) — including creators who run a shared account together — you may apply either as one combined submission or as individual applicants referencing the same video.

If selected, multiple individuals may appear as hosts or creators within the For The Travelers series, as long as the storytelling and execution are stronger together than apart.

However, there will still be one selected winner and one $100,000 compensation package associated with the role.

Final decisions around structure, responsibilities, and expectations will be discussed during the selection process.

Is this a giveaway or a contest?
No. This is a paid storytelling role. We’re selecting one traveler to lead For The Travelers — creating original content for Matador across YouTube, social, photography, and written formats.

    How is the $100,000 paid?
The $100,000 is paid in equal monthly installments over the course of the contract.
    Please see terms and conditions.

Will the selected creator receive Matador gear?
Yes. The selected creator will receive Matador gear to support their travels, including core products and unreleased gear.

Specific gear needs will be discussed with the selected creator to ensure they’re properly equipped for the type of travel and storytelling they’re doing.

Is this a full-time job with Matador?
No. The selected creator will be engaged as an independent contractor, not a Matador employee. This is a fixed-term storytelling assignment, not a full-time employment role.

Do I need a large following to apply?
No. We’re evaluating storytelling ability, creative perspective, and execution — not follower count. A strong point of view matters more than audience size.

    Will Matador cover travel expenses?
No. Travel, lodging, and daily expenses are not reimbursed separately. The $100,000 compensation is intended to support both your time and your travel throughout the contract.

Do I need professional camera gear?
You should have access to the tools needed to create high-quality content. We’re more interested in how you use what you have than owning the latest equipment — but baseline production quality matters.

Can I work with other brands during the year?
This will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Because this is a year-defining role tied to Matador content, exclusivity with competing travel gear brands will be required. Additional details will be discussed with the selected creator.

What happens to the content I create?
Content created as part of this role may be used by Matador across our digital, social, editorial, and marketing channels.

At the same time, creators retain the ability to use and share the content they create across their own personal platforms, portfolios, and channels.

We believe this work should benefit both parties — Matador can use the content to tell For The Travelers stories, and the creator can use the work to build their own body of work and audience.

Specific usage terms, including rights and licensing details, will be clearly outlined in the final contractor agreement.

    What if I don’t win?
We’ll also select several runners-up to receive paid, project-based assignments with Matador throughout the year. If your work stands out, this won’t be the end of the conversation.

    How will submissions be evaluated?
Submissions are reviewed by Matador’s creative team based on:

    • Storytelling clarity
    • Creative point of view
    • Ability to hold attention
    • Alignment with For The Travelers
    • Consistency and execution potential

I still have questions — how can I reach you?
If your question isn’t answered here, you can reach us at: Marketing@MatadorEquipment.com

Applicant authorizes Matador and its service providers to obtain and review such information and understands that Matador may disqualify Applicant based on the results, in Matador’s sole discretion. Any background check will be conducted in compliance with applicable law.

    8. SUBMISSION LICENSE; INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS.

By submitting any video, image, audio recording, text, likeness, or other materials (“Submission”), Applicant irrevocably grants Matador a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, fully paid, sublicensable, transferable, and irrevocable license to use, reproduce, distribute, publicly display, publicly perform, modify, adapt, create derivative works from, exploit, and otherwise use the Submission in any manner, in any media now known or hereafter devised, for any purpose whatsoever, including without limitation marketing, advertising, promotional, editorial, and commercial purposes.

Applicant waives any and all moral rights or similar rights in the Submission to the maximum extent permitted by law, and where such waiver is not permitted, agrees not to assert such rights against Matador.

Matador has no obligation to use any Submission, and Applicant has no right of approval, attribution, or compensation in connection with any use.

    9. PUBLICITY RELEASE.

Applicant grants Matador the unrestricted right to use Applicant’s name, likeness, image, voice, biographical information, and social media handles, without further notice or compensation, in connection with the Program and voluntarily submitted content.

    10. REPRESENTATIONS AND WARRANTIES.

    Applicant represents and warrants that:

    (a) Applicant is the sole author and owner of the Submission;

    (b) the Submission is original and does not infringe or violate any third-party rights;

    (c) Applicant has obtained all necessary licenses, permissions, releases, and approvals for Matador’s use of the Submission; and

    (d) the Submission complies with all applicable laws and regulations.

    11. ASSUMPTION OF RISK; LEGAL COMPLIANCE.

Applicant voluntarily assumes all risks associated with content creation, filming, travel, and participation in the Program, including without limitation risks of injury, illness, loss, delay, or damage. Applicant is solely responsible for compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, rules, and permitting requirements.

    12. RELEASE OF CLAIMS.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Applicant releases, waives, and forever discharges Matador and its officers, directors, employees, agents, affiliates, successors, and assigns from any and all claims, demands, causes of action, damages, or liabilities of any kind arising out of or relating to Applicant’s participation in the Program, submission of any Submission, or use of any Submission by Matador, except to the extent prohibited by law.

    13. INDEMNIFICATION.

Applicant agrees to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Matador and its officers, directors, employees, agents, affiliates, successors, and assigns from and against any and all claims, demands, actions, damages, losses, liabilities, judgments, settlements, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to:

    (a) Applicant’s Submission;

    (b) Applicant’s participation in the Program;

    (c) Applicant’s breach of these Terms; or

    (d) Applicant’s violation of any law or third-party rights.

This obligation shall survive termination of these Terms.

    14. NO COMPENSATION; COSTS.

Applicant acknowledges and agrees that no compensation, reimbursement, or remuneration of any kind is owed or due in exchange for submitting an application or Submission. Applicant is solely responsible for any costs incurred in connection with participation.

    15. NO OBLIGATION TO SELECT; DISQUALIFICATION.

Matador has no obligation to select any Applicant, enter into any agreement, or engage any creator as a result of the Program. Matador may select no Applicant at all, in its sole discretion, without liability. Matador reserves the right to disqualify any Applicant at any time for any reason, including reputational concerns, suspected misconduct, material misrepresentation, or violation of these Terms.

    16. NOTICE OF FUTURE EXCLUSIVITY AND CONFLICT RESTRICTIONS.

Applicant acknowledges and agrees that any Applicant selected for engagement will be required to execute an independent contractor agreement and statement of work containing, among other terms, category exclusivity and conflict-of-interest restrictions during the contract term. Such restrictions are expected to prohibit the creation of sponsored, promotional, affiliate, or brand-related content for competing or similar brands in travel gear and adjacent product categories during the engagement period. These restrictions will be limited to the scope and term of the engagement and will not constitute a general non-compete.

    17. REQUIREMENT OF SEPARATE AGREEMENT.

Any Applicant selected must execute Matador’s independent contractor agreement and statement of work prior to commencement of services or receipt of any payment. Failure to execute such agreements will result in forfeiture of selection.

    18. PROGRAM MODIFICATION; FORCE MAJEURE.

Matador reserves the right to modify, suspend, postpone, or terminate the Program at any time for any reason. Matador shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance due to events beyond its reasonable control.

    19. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event shall Matador be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to the Program or these Terms.

    20. ARBITRATION; CLASS ACTION WAIVER.

Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to the Program or these Terms shall be resolved by binding arbitration administered in the State of Colorado under the rules of the American Arbitration Association. Arbitration shall be conducted on an individual basis only. Applicant waives any right to participate in a class, collective, or representative action.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, Matador may seek injunctive or equitable relief in a court of competent jurisdiction to protect its intellectual property, confidential information, or enforce exclusivity or use restrictions.

    21. GOVERNING LAW.

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Colorado, without regard to conflict of-law principles.

    22. ASSIGNMENT.

Matador may assign these Terms without restriction. Applicant may not assign without Matador’s prior written consent.

    23. ENTIRE AGREEMENT.

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between Applicant and Matador regarding the Program.

    24. SEVERABILITY; WAIVER.

If any provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. No waiver shall be deemed a waiver of any other provision.

    25. SURVIVAL.

Sections relating to intellectual property, publicity, representations and warranties, release, indemnification, limitation of liability, arbitration, governing law, and survival shall survive termination.

    26. ACCEPTANCE.

By submitting an application or any Submission, Applicant acknowledges that Applicant has read, understood, and agrees to be legally bound by these Terms.
