Best For: Staying organized while moving place to place

Segmented design for organization (patented)
Built with materials that meet Bluesign® criteria
Qualifies for free shipping (USA)

Road trips, hostel hopping, moving from city to city…when we travel we rarely stay in one place long enough to unpack. By day 3, it usually looks like a bomb went off in our luggage.

We designed the SEG45 to be the ultimate travel pack for those trips where you live out of your bag. The segmented design means everything has its place, and it’s all just a single zip away. Large items and dirty clothes stow beneath the organizer pockets (truly a place for everything). We added comfortable, stowable backpack straps for airport carry, and a duffle strap for quick hauls to the car. Rugged outdoor-industry fabrics and YKK sealing zippers mean the SEG45 is equally at home in the back of a desert-bound pickup, or in the overhead compartment on your next flight.

Is the SEG45 carry-on item size compliant?
The SEG45 is a soft-sided pack that complies to carry-on item size requirements for most airlines. Carry-on item dimensional requirements vary slightly by airline, which is one of many reasons we prefer a soft-sided pack over hard-exterior luggage. We have tested the SEG45 to confirm that it fits into the carry-on compartment of the baggage sizers typically found at airports.

What size laptop will the laptop pocket accommodate?
The laptop pocket fits up to 16" laptops from all manufacturers.

How do the backpack straps stow to use as a duffle bag or checked bag?
To stow the backpack straps, unclip from the bottom and slide straps into the vertical pockets along the back panel. Zip to close the vertical pockets.

Does the SEG45 include a duffle strap?
The SEG45 has a removeable shoulder strap that is included with the bag. This is new to this product, based on feedback from the SEG42.

Is the SEG45 waterproof?
The SEG45 is built from waterproof materials and has YKK® sealing zippers on all external pockets. This pack is designed to withstand light to medium precipitation for short periods. Outdoor coatings add further protection by letting water slick off the fabric.

How big is the water bottle pocket?
The external water bottle pocket can fit the largest of water bottles, such as Nalgenes® and 40oz Hydro Flasks®

What is UHMWPE?
UHMWPE is used as the ripstop grid on high wear panels of the SEG45, like the bottom of the bag. Known by several brand names such as Dyneema® and Spectra®, UWMPE is extremely resistant to tearing and cutting. The white grid fabric on the SEG45 is UHMWPE, and it improves the durability of the bag while maintaining the superior seam integrity of nylon.

How long is the warranty?
The SEG45 has a 3 year, Total-Protection-Warranty. SEG45 is built to last—with the highest quality outdoor fabrics, bartack reinforced construction, and strategic patterning that guarantees long-term performance. Equipment in and out of warranty is eligible for free repairs. (Excludes European Union)

Sag45 strap broke after 4 months of daily duty

The segments are great but the bag needs more support to keep it upright like the Seg28. Used it daily from Feb thru June 24 and then the clip strap broke at the L leading back to the clicppp. Checked and all the bags have the same molding welt that will lead to them breaking.

I would like the Seg28 but in 45litre with the same large laptop carrier. And the passport pocket.

Hey David, thanks for the review and for fully testing the SEG45 on your travels. Regarding the broken plastic clip on the bottom of your backpack, please email and we will be happy to send you a replacement.

Based on your feedback, we would recommend checking out the GlobeRider45. The GR45 has the support and organizational features you like on the SEG28, but has the same volume as the SEG45... plus the passport pocket and a protected laptop sleeve.

The organization on this bag is solid. Looking forward to its first outing.

Great Ideas - missing compression and technical harness means I'm returning

Ordered this bag for a 8 day trip. Had no issue meeting carry-on requirements, and its certainly spacious and the materials are top-notch. However, I found the support and compression lacking and will be returning. If this bag isn't carefully packed, the balance is off and you can feel lumps and bumps while wearing. Additionally there's no way to compress segments, meaning items can shift as you move if individual segments are not full to the brim. All of this is fine if you plan to use this mostly as a duffle, but I hoped to use primarily as a backpack and found walking even 1 mile pretty uncomfortable.

This bag has potential, but the design isn't there yet, in my opinion. I'll follow to see if later versions have a better harness like the GlobeRider appears to, add compression loops like the Seg28, or redesign to have some segments fully removeable/compressible when not in use.
