How waterproof is the Freerain28?
Bags with the Freerain name are built from waterproof materials with sealed seams and rolltop closures. Though not intended for intentional submersion, these bags are 100% weatherproof and will keep water out in the most extreme weather conditions when the rolltop is rolled at least 3 times.

Is the Freerain28 hydration compatible?
Yes. The Freerain28 will accomodate most 1-2L water reservoirs and has a dedicated hose exit and hose routing features.

How do I pack up and stow the Freerain28?
We suggest folding the pack in thirds vertically and rolling up tightly from the bottom. Unzip the top closure so that air can escape as it is rolled up. For detailed instructions, the demo video below shows the full pack up.

Does this pack have a hip belt?
Yes, the hip belt is permanently attached and has dimensional zipper pockets on both sides.

Waterproof Main, not so for Secondary

I love the look. It packs pretty thick, but for waterproof main it probably can't get smaller. Very comfortable. The secondary compartments have what look like waterproof zippers, but they're not. I used it on a boat snorkeling trip for a week. Everything in the main compartment was protected from the water, but everything in the secondary compartments were soaked. Something to keep in mind when buying.

Hey Joseph, thanks for the review. You are correct the external pocket is not 100% waterproof like the main compartment. The main compartment has full sealed seams and a roll-top, where the external pocket does not. Sorry for any confusion, we're glad your enjoying the pack!

Exactly what we were looking for !!!

We got this pack so we could carry our rain jackets or sweaters, snacks and water. Obviously had to be light and packable. My wife and I are both in our sixties and have travelled quite a lot always backpacking. We were both amazed how light this pack was, great feature like hip belt and additional small pockets and mostly how comfortable. We are in size at opposite of the size spectrum yet we both find so easy to carry. We took it along with us maybe 2 weeks long and loved it. This is one of our best gear purchase for travel for sure.

Ok little backpack with a real waterproof compartment

My only problem is trying to stuff the backpack in that tiny bag provided. A little extra space would help pack it flatter, which would really help.
